Now in its ninth year, the prestigious award recognizes a leading financial advisor or team for contributions that exemplify leadership, experience and expertise in the retirement plan industry. This year’s award focuses on innovation and accomplishments in human capital management, sometimes referred to as workforce management.

The semifinalists were selected from more than 150 nominations submitted. From the 10 semifinalists. StoneStreet was chosen to go through an interview process with the Judging Committee, culminating in the announcement as the award winner at the nation’s retirement plan advisor convention — the NAPA 401(k) Summit in Nashville April 18, 2016.*

The Top Women’s Advisors list was created to acknowledge the contributions of a growing number of women who are making significant contributions to the retirement industry, as well as bringing excellence to the profession.

Nominees were asked to respond to a series of questions, both quantitative and qualitative, about their experience and practice. Those questionnaires were then reviewed on an anonymous basis by a panel of judges who, over the course of several weeks, selected the women honored in three separate categories: Captains, All-Stars and Rising Stars.  The lists were drawn from nearly 500 nominations submitted by NAPA Firm Partners. More than 15,000 votes were cast in support of these individuals.*

The list is drawn solely from a set of quantitative variables and information in the survey supplied by the advisers themselves. For an adviser to be eligible for recognition in this year’s Top 100, he had to submit a completed entry to our 2016 Retirement Plan Adviser Survey, which was fielded this past September. A sub-segment of the questions was used to determine eligibility for the Top 100.*

As with other NAPA Net industry lists (Top DC Wholesalers, Top 50 Advisors Under 40), NAPA.net began by asking NAPA Firm Partners to nominate women candidates to receive recognition on the Top Women’s Advisors inaugural list. Once voting began, NAPA allowed for other nominations as well, ultimately receiving nearly 450 nominations and, in the weeks that followed, roughly 12,500 votes from individuals across the spectrum of the retirement industry. Nominees were asked to respond to a series of questions, both quantitative and qualitative, about their experience and practice. Those anonymized questionnaires were then reviewed by a blue-ribbon panel of judges who, over the course of several weeks, selected the women honored in four separate categories.*

The award, launched in 2005, recognizes the contributions of the nation’s best financial advisers in helping make retirement security a reality for workers across the nation. Nominations for the Retirement Plan Adviser and Adviser Team of the Year awards were solicited online from retirement plan advisers, their employers and/or broker/dealers, and plan sponsors, as well as from working partners of these advisers, including investment vendors, accountants and attorneys, and pension administrators (advisers who have attained the PLANSPONSOR Retirement Professional designation receive an automatic nomination). The finalists were selected by an expert panel of judges from a list of semifinalists compiled from a quantitative evaluation of their current service levels and, based on interviews with their plan sponsor clients. Finalists were drawn from a pool of 332 nominations representing more than 200 advisers.*
